Jacob Bellens / Want What I Can't Have

At first glance "Want What I Can't Have" is a relaxed pop song with a chilled groove that only reveals its profound meaning at second glance.
“The chorus that became Want What I Can’t Have originated in the swimming pool opposite where we live.” says Jacob Bellens. “It’s round and while swimming in circles I was thinking about why I so often hold on to destructive patterns of behaviour just because they are safe, even though they don’t serve me very well.
Why I so often want something other than what is in front of me, why I always think there is something better somewhere else, and about how I often dream of something unrealistic because its easier to place my ambitions in a distant, blurry future than choosing the more vulnerable and costly option of aiming for something thats actually achievable, and thereby risky and scary.
I made a quick demo on my phone and went into the studio shortly afterwards with Mads Brinch who produced it.”
Doing Fine, a song featuring Danish artist M.I.L.K., is included on the B-side.
