OUT NOW

Consisting of Dickie Schubert, Bernd Wand and Torsten Bage, the German trio Fraktus is regarded as the pioneer of Techno music in general and the German techno wave in particular. Alongside contemporaries Kraftwerk they have been the inspiration for many well-known artists such as Yello, Westbam, Trio, Blixa Bargeld or Daft Punk. Their rise to fame in the eighties tragically came to an end after the venue they've been playing burned down to the ground and destroyed all of their selfmade unique equipment. They never got over the shock and dissolved the band.

After 30 years of silence famous music producer Roger Dettner gathered the old bandmembers and convinced them to reunite Fraktus. They teamed up with film director Lars Jessen whose spectacular documentary "Fraktus - Das letzte Kapitel der Musikgeschichte" (Fraktus - The last Chapter of Music History) is at the movie theatres right now. At the same time Fraktus' impressive comeback album "Millennium Edition" is released on Staatsakt.
The standout track from the album certainly is "Affe sucht Liebe". It goes "Affe sucht Liebe, Affe sucht Halt, Affe sucht Wärme, sonst wird Affe kalt" [Monkey is looking for love, Monkey is looking for ground, Monkey is looking for warmth, otherwise Monkey's getting cold].

The song's orginal version went already high into the charts 30 years ago and now we are glad to release the fresh club-remixes on hafendisko. The package contains brilliant remixes by the wonderful Cologne-based Truffle Shuffle and Hamburg artists Deo & Z-Man and Remute.

Truffle Shuffle, producers and promoters from the Kompakt environment in Cologne deliver an exciting dub version. Kicking out all the pop elements, their "Finderlohn Dub" turns the song into a modern underground shuffle in its own right. Consisting of longstanding Cologne DJs Marc Lansley and Shumi, Truffle Shuffle have been remixing Kasper Bjørke (hfn music), Walls (Kompakt), Barnt and most recently Human Woman (hfn music) on their new remix album.

Deo & Z-Man, the fresh Italian Hamburg-based duo (Compost Black Label) delights us with a dub-version and a remix of "Affe sucht Liebe". Their reworks pick up on the retro-clubsound and combine melodic piano tunes with themes from the eighties club scene. Thanks to the distinctive bassline their versions cut a Donna-Summer-like fine figure on the dancefloor.

Finally Hamburg-based producer Remute (Tresor, Trapez, Liebe*Detail and many more) adds his very own remix to the package. He is well-known for his electrifying live sets and his affinity for acoustic explosions. Hence his remix is the reincarnation of the classical Techno version of "Affe sucht Liebe". Driven by a fast beat and the recurrent "Oweeeeyoo" chant of Fraktus frontman Dickie Schubert, this is the full on version, reminscent of a true Techno monster tune.
