Darkness Falls are a pop-noir duo formed in 2009, consisting of Josephine Philip, vocals and keyboard, and Ina Lindgreen on guitar.
In 2011 they impressed with the debut album ‘Alive In Us’ produced by Anders Trentemøller. The album received wide spread critical acclaim and in Denmark, the duo’s home country, they became the most played act on national Danish radio with the aid of the haunting single ‘Hey!’. In March 2015 Darkness Falls released their second album ‘Dance And Cry’.
'Dance And Cry' is a musical and lyrical journey through the night and life with Josephine and Ina behind the wheel. Josephine Philip and Ina Lindgreen effortlessly blend a host of rock and pop influences, the textures and structures of electronic dance music and the haunting atmospheres of arthouse cinema soundtracks to produce an album of deep longing and icy cool – all drawn together by impeccable vocals that embody a decidedly glamorous melancholy.
The second album contains raw energy and heartfelt poetry in equal measures. A loss of innocence and the acceptance of this as a result of living independently is a reoccurring theme in several of the new songs. Loss, love, downfall, relationships, loneliness, empowerment and the thrills and sorrows of living life fully until darkness takes us are negotiated in both music and lyrics.
It’s an album that will tick all the boxes for a diverse range of listeners; as they themselves put it: ‘In our music, there is something for the mind, something for the heart and something for the feet too.’
‘Dance And Cry’ was produced in collaboration with Adrian Aurelius (Raveonettes) and Lasse Martinussen (Rosemary).
Since their debut Darkness Falls have toured extensively in Europe.
Josephine Philip and Ina Lindgreen met and started playing music together in the now defunct all girl ska band Favelachic. Philip was also part of the pop duo JaConfetti and has performed and written songs with several acts as Trentemøller, Kasper Bjørke ect.
