Hamburg (/ˈhæmbɜrɡ/; German pronunciation: [ˈhambʊɐ̯k], local pronunciation [ˈhambʊɪç]; Low German/Low Saxon: Hamborg [ˈhaˑmbɔːx]), officially Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, is the second largest city in Germany, the fifteenth largest German state and the sixth largest city in the European Union. The city is home to over 1.8 million people including an array of very talented producers, while the Hamburg Metropolitan Region (including parts of the neighbouring Federal States of Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein) has more than 5 million inhabitants. Situated on the river Elbe, the port of Hamburg is the second largest port in Europe (after the port of Rotterdam) and eleventh largest worldwide.

The new compilation album "Hamburg Elektronisch Vol. 2 - von house zu house“ aims to give an inside view into a brooding and flourishing scene of creative minds and musical activists, serving a full 24 track package including 8 pieces exclusively produced for this album. As its predecessor once again released via hfn music's sister label hafendisko, this special selection puts the northern metropolis on the map for being a capital in its own right, introducing its creative spirits to a wider audience.

Well knowing that a full portrait of a scene this active and in full bloom with a countless amount of quality tracks produced everyday, is almost impossible to provide, we're focussing on tracks taken from new releases or even unreleased and exclusive material and try to depict the vast variety of sounds coming straight from Hamburg's studios.

That's why some of the acts from Volume 1, which was released in summer 2011, might be missing on the new album and new projects had to be found, but all of them have been gladly contributing to this musical gathering, representing their hometown.

And it‘s a gathering for sure, mostly revolving around the pumping 4-2-the-floor-framework, somewhere in between Deep- and TechHouse with influences from Motor City or the ever echoing Rhythm & Sound school, which can be experienced week by week in Hamburg's famous places like Uebel & Gefährlich, Ego, Golden Pudel Club and more. Interestingly, the spatial dimensions of the last mentioned is in opposite to it's massive reputation and you often see it taking foreign clubbers by surprise, which again amuses local punters and DJs alike. Not to mention the endless stream of open air raves taking place in the cities parks and open spaces more or less spontaneously as soon as temperatures are rising, creating inspiring moments.

A lot of the folks associated with these places and occasions are happily taking part in the challenge that "Hamburg Elektronisch Vol. 2 -  von house zu house“ offers, while aiming to present the cream of the crop of Hamburg's musical landscape.

It's the only place, where local heroes like RVDS or Modern S†alking meet established bangers like H.O.S.H.‘s "Don Arp“ and Wareika‘s "Forest“, where long time activists like Henry with his tune "Skalar“ are nothing less than a lesson in DubTechno, where Vincenzo or Marc Scheider meet Extrawelt, where productions by younger ones like Clark Davis or Soukie & Windish get together with fresh exclusives by Viktor Marek ("My Favorite Thing“), School Of Zuversicht, Audision ("Genetic“) and others. A place packed and crowded, a who is who and a meet‘n‘greet of a thriving scene that does not live large, but lives up to the quality of international standards.

"Hamburg Elektronisch Vol. 02  - von house zu house" is a gathering of many tribes hanseatic, a vast variety of sound and a blend of ingredients making up a musical menu representing Hamburg's club sound of now.

„A great snapshot not only of Hamburg’s sonic fertility then, but of house music in general.” (DJ Mag UK)
