Black Light Smoke

Jordan Lieb, aka Black Light Smoke, is a songwriter, composer and producer of many stripes. His music draws on the raw house sound of his native Chicago, while at the same time expanding to electro, disco, post-punk, and beyond.

His most recent output hafendisko is his slick but deep, grooving rework of MANOID's "Are Burning" and the upcoming "Loving You" EP.

Debuting in 2010 on Brooklyn's Scissor & Thread, Black Light Smoke lit up the scene with his infections single "Lovework" being charted by the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Appleblim, and spurred on by a remix from DJ T. 2013 saw the release of his "Rough Cuts" EP from which both the title track and "That's My Yes" found much favor on dance floors. In 2014 his "Firefly" EP took a turn in sound to delve deeper into the world of retro synths and electro. Together with Lightbluemover, he explored with the "Girn & Ddisko" EP kraut, no wave and dico influences. In 2017 he released the three-tracker 'Depression Sleeping' on Voodo Down Records, aswell as his solo EP Fire In My Head on hafendisko.

2014 was also the year Jordan launched his own podcast series Death Decay Magic. This eclectic platform showcases mixes from a wide range of DJs, and is home to Jordan's own mixes, edits, and original music.

As a composer Jordan has worked in the film and television industry for more than thirteen years, bringing him two Daytime Emmy nominations, a Daytime Emmy award, placement in feature and indie films, and countless advertising spots.
